TIME OF VISIT: FEBRUARY 2026
At a first glance, Hua Hin might seem very touristy and the food scene is no exception. A very laid-back liveable resort town, without the crazy vibe of Phuket, Hua Hin is perfect for a relaxing holiday. We visited in peak season, so the main night food spots like Hua Hin Market and Chicada Market were very busy with tourists, but we were somehow disappointed by the choice of food and the prices. But we didn’t let first impressions put us off. Without going far from the main stream touristy places we found some little gems with amazing food and excellent prices. Keep reading for a medium low budget Hua Hin Food guide, with delicious seafood choices. And check our post on Hua Hin beaches, hotels and activities on a budget.

Our favorite restaurants
1- Koh Mak Restaurant (ร้านอาหารโกหมาก หัวหิน)
Why it’s worthy: This is a local upscale restaurant with a great relaxing vibe, local tourists, very attentive staff and delicious seafood. They have an impressive menu with local delicacies. This is the perfect restaurant for a holiday treat on a budget.
What to order: Thai basil clams, curry sauce crab, deep fried fish with sweet and spicy sauce are some of their signature dishes and they are delicious.
Price range: We had 3 main dishes (clams, crab and whole fish), rice for 4 people, beer and soft drinks for $30 all included for two people.

2- Lek Seafood restaurant
Why it’s worthy: Located at the Fresh Seafood Market Kao Takiab, this unassuming restaurant has fresh caught seafood at reasonable prices. The restaurant is busy with local tourists, clean and the food is fresh and delicious. My husband caught the lobsters and crab himself from the tank so it could choose the ones he liked the most and then you choose style of cooking, steam, pot, bbq, with sauces or not.
What to order: Slipper lobsters, crab, prawns and clams
Price range: We had crab, lobsters, clam, rice and drinks for $25 for two people, amazing value.

3- Fresh Delica at Big C (Bluport Mall)
Why it’s worthy: This is a fantastic concept that allows you to buy quality fresh ingredients at the supermarket and they will cook it for you for a small fee. It is by far the cheapest option to enjoy a lovely steak chosen by you or a delicious fish. You can also buy discounted goods. The ambience is not super romantic, but the food is good quality and it’s a clean, new and modern supermarket.
What to order: Steak and fish
Price range: We had grilled beef and deep fried whole seabass paired it with chips for $15-20 for 2 people.

4- Uncle Sing’s Hua Hin Fish Head Hot Pot (ร้านอาหารโกหมาก หัวหิน)
Why it’s worthy: This is a local Thai little eatery we stumbled upon next to the Hua Hin Night market. Disappointed from the very touristy and expensive eateries in the market, we opted for an authentic local Thai eatery and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious authentic and at real Thai local prices.
What to order: Tom yum soup is their signature, also Thai chicken fried rice, garlic greens, all delicious.
Price range: $5-10 for two people for Tom yum soup, steamed rice, chicken fried rice and beer.

5- Local Thai restaurants
Why it’s worthy: Whenever we go in Thailand, we prefer eating at local restaurants than touristy spots. On our first night, we were disappointed by the touristy food at inflated prices of the markets so we decided to walk around and find a normal Thai food place and we only had to walk about 5 minutes before finding one. We also tried others near our hotel, all delicious. Nice fresh authentic food, vibrant flavors and Thai prices. It is part of the experience of living/visiting Thailand.
What to order: Thai basil chicken or pork rice (Pad Kra Pao Moo or Gai (ผัดกะเพรา)), Chicken fried rice with egg on top (Khao Pad Gai Kai Dao(ข้าวผัดไก่)), Tom Yum, Fried pork rice (Khao Moo Krob (ข้าวหมูกรอบ)).
Price range: each dish will cost around 40 or 50 bath, less than $2.

🍜 Food Tips in Hua Hin
- Choose busy stalls and restaurants for fresher food
- Eat at night markets if you fancy a burger and other western food
- Avoid food sitting out, eat what is being cooked fresh to order
- Start with safe classics: Pad Kra Pao, Khao Pad, Tom Yum
- Look for seafood on ice + cooked to order
- Carry cash for street food and small eateries
- Check basic hygiene signs (clean prep area, food cooked hot), if it doesn’t look clean or feel right, go somewhere else
- Choose fruit that’s peeled fresh in front of you
- Don’t stop at the markets: explore side streets and local spots for better, cheaper food
- Avoid places with tourists only, eat where locals eat → usually the best indicator of quality
- Avoid empty places with pre-cooked food on display
